Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) continue to be Germany's top health insurance fund. This is the conclusion of business magazine FOCUS-MONEY (Issue 49/2010) in the magazine's large-scale test of statutory health insurance funds.
Leading the field once again
Focus-Money tested some 100 statutory health insurance funds for the fifth time. And for the fifth time, TK were the overall winner and simultaneously the best-positioned nationwide health insurance fund with a branch office network. TK have thus already held this top position in the comparison of statutory health insurance funds since 2006, without a single interruption.
Best performance
TK impressed Focus-Money particularly with their outstanding optional plans, broad offering of outpatient and integrated care, good service and excellent transparency in external communication. The exemplary financial strength of TK was also included in the evaluation. What's more, TK also enjoy an outstanding reputation amongst physicians: they continue to be the "doctors' favourite".

In the comparison, experts investigated the entire service spectrum of almost 100 national and regional health insurance funds, with twelve categories being tested: premiums and financial strength, service, optional plans, bonus programmes, natural medicine therapies, outpatient and integrated care, health promotion, additional benefits, prevention, transparency, supplemental insurance policies and the opinion of physicians.
